Automatic file naming
CustomTools offers an advanced and unlimited ways of generating automatic file names. This allows you to define your own alpha-numbering sequences (e.g. Ass-001-Manu) and combine them with other custom properties (e.g. ERP item) to generate a file name, thereby allowing you to quickly generate a file name and store the file in a pre-defined folder, no more files are lost.
This feature is well-suited for use in a multiple user environment, since a sequence can only be generated once. It eliminates the risk of overwriting a file and ensures that everyone is using the same naming rules.
This allows the file name to be automatic and standardized, as the part number should be unique throughout the entire organization.
With CustomTools no matter how you name your drawings, the name of the part/assembly can differ from the drawings’ name: the link with the part/assembly is not broken. Thus, allowing you to have a drawing per configuration (Use the CustomOpenDrawings to find all the drawings made for a particular part).
